Electric pens "falsely claim to be plasma pen" The Science of How it Works: Epidermal skin cells are sublimated as soon as thermal plasma hits them leaving a little bit of carbon behind. Plasma is electrically conductive; it is attracted to the moisture (cytoplasm or water) in skin cells. The water evaporates when hit by plasma along with the directly affected skin cells leaving behind a white dot (not a burn mark dot) and a tiny carbon dot inside of this white dot. The white dot is the stratum corneum and stratum lucidum cells being pushed out of the way. The plasma looks purple, smells like ozone, and sometimes there is a slight charring smell, especially if a hair is singed. This controlled thermal injury causes instant sub-epidermal tightening and stimulation of the fibroblasts in the deeper skin tissue to produce collagen. There should be no bleeding. Carbon crusts will emerge in your skin where the white dots were in 24-48 hours. These will fall off in 5-7 days to reveal newly formed skin. No scarring or bruising takes place. Pink skin following treatment is a possibility but will heal and return to normal color in time. The mild trauma and inflammation caused by thermal plasma increases blood flow to the area.
